What is DBGallery?

Who Uses DBGallery?
Anyone in an organization who consumes photos as well as those who administer or add to the collection.
Who are it's key customers?
To date the majority of customers are in engineering, educational institutes, historical societies, and sciences (e.g. geological organizations). See our partial customer list page.
Individual photographers with large collections also form a small subset of those finding DBGallery indispensable.
DBGallery's Core Strengths
Permissions and roles are used to provide secure and appropriate access. It includes tools for automated organization as well as enabling any set of users to manually contribute to the collections organization. Collections can be built, and because data about photographs continues to be the most effective means to organize and search a collection, DBGallery includes numerous efficiencies for this. It includes tools to dramatically decrease entry of data for photos, such as auto fill options, multiple photo data edit, and easy to use data presets. Photos may be browsed via GPS location on a map, via data in approximately 30 data-related trees, and shared virtual sets.
Because the software is built on top of a photo database, utilizing Oracle's MySQL, rather than just a set of folders, many interesting and effective opportunities are made available. For example, it knows which photos have been added today, or in the past week, so recent additions can be shown to ensure they were properly organize by whomever added them. Or search for images which have or do not have GPS data, or no data at all yet.
Finding images by tediously digging through folders is no longer required when DBGallery is used across your organization. It includes numerous innovative means to browse a collection. It analyses data provided by every digital camera or cell phone, and any keyed data, to show images in an organized manner. Images may be display across a map to help understand where they were taken, showing images at each customer site for example. No longer is browsing folders full of thumbnails the way to organize and find photos.
Having a photo collection which is well organized and searchable for easy, quick retrieval increases the value of that collection by orders of magnitude.
