Dennis Curry in Africa
"While much of the art of the past has dealt with the glories and follies of humankind, I feel a need to portray nature for its own sake with the hope of promoting value and respect for our unique planet and the varied forms of life with which we share it."
Dennis Curry - Wildlife Artist

Please select from the following 3 categories of art:

1. Original Artwork (16)

An original work of art begins with the artist's choice of mediums. In the art of print making, some examples of print media are: silk screen, intaglio, lithography, etc.

Once a print medium is selected, the artist makes a separate stencil, plate or stone called a "matrix", for each color that will be used in the image. Then, the press is run to carry one color or shade at a time from the matrix to the artwork. Each artwork requires multiple press runs to complete the image. To make another "instance" or "version" of the artwork, the entire printing process must be repeated, press run by press run, and color by color, for each piece. Thus, each piece becomes a unique "version" of the artwork. For a given artwork, the number of "versions" that the artist will create, is called the Edition size. To learn more about the process of creating art, please visit our Process description.

2. Limited Edition Reproductions (9)

Each print medium has its' own distinct character, which is usually why the artist chooses it. By contrast, when printing is used for reproduction, the goal is to approximate the characteristics of another medium, such as a painting. A limited edition means that the artist will reproduce only a limited number of copies of the artwork. The number of copies he will make, is called the Edition size.

3. Open Edition Reproductions (8)

An Open edition means that the artist has not set any limit on the number of copies of the artwork that he will reproduce. Therefore, there is no Edition size for an Open Edition. Because these artworks have the highest availability, they usually have the lowest prices. The artist signs all of his artwork, including these reproductions, by hand.
